Rev. Max Mayo

District Superintendent


Max Mayo is a lifelong Methodist. He was born in Cumming, GA in 1970 while his father, Rev. Jerry Mayo, was enrolled at Emory University. Max became a Licensed Local Pastor in the Tennessee Conference in 1991 while enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University. He received his M.Div. from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1997.

Max has two children; Justin and Maddie. When he has free time, Max prefers to build furniture and play golf.

Mrs. Monica Butler

Administrative Assistant


Monica Butler grew up in Smyrna TN.  She was raised in the United Methodist Church.  She attended Texas Tech University and MTSU.

Monica is married to Rev. James Butler, Jr., and is a Certified Lay Minister in the Stones River District. She serves,  with her husband, at Stephen’s Chapel and Summitville United Methodist Churches in Manchester.

When not working in the church, or with various ministries, Monica loves to take gourmet cooking classes.
